App Crashes or Won't Load on Your Fire TV

If your downloaded app is not working as expected

  • Clear the app cache and data.
  • Go to Settings on your Fire TV.
  • Select Applications .
  • In Manage Installed Applications, select the app you are having trouble with.
  • Select Clear Cache, and then Clear Data.
  • Restart your Fire TV device. Press and hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons at the same time for 10 seconds.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the app.
  • Go to Settings on your Fire TV device.
  • Select Applications.
  • Select Manage Installed Applications.
  • Select the app you want to uninstall, and then Uninstall.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Re-Install Application.
  • Soft Reset Firestick device.
  • Unplug the device from the power for 10 seconds. Reconnect the device to power.


There's no sound

  • First thing's first: Make sure your Fire TV Stick didn't accidentally get muted. To do this, just press the Mute button on the remote. If the Stick was muted, it should be muted no more.


  • Use the up and down buttons to refresh the channel you are watching.



  • A loss of sound can also be attributed to bugginess with whatever streaming app you are using or the Fire TV Stick itself. Try exiting your stream, then go back into the movie or episode and restart. If you still do not have sound, try closing the app altogether. If you still do not have sound when you relaunch, you may want to physically reset the Fire TV Stick.

Television shows a blank screen

  • If your television doesn’t show anything other than a blank screen, begin by unplugging your Fire TV Stick, then plugging it back in.


  • Double-check that your television is set to the correct HDMI input for your Fire TV Stick.



  • If you are using an HDMI cable or extender, try connecting the Fire TV Stick directly to the TV to see if it may be causing the issue.
